Cracks or shrinkingThe silicone has aged and no longer flexes with the shower.
Damp or leaksWater is getting through. Reseal early to avoid bigger repairs.

How shower resealing works

  1. Remove all the old silicone and mould from corners, trays, screens and tile edges.
  2. Clean and dry the joints so the new sealant bonds properly.
  3. Apply fresh silicone and tool it smooth for a neat, even line.
  4. Cure: we tell you how long to leave it before using the shower.

Shower resealing FAQs

How often should shower silicone be replaced?

Shower silicone typically needs replacing every few years, sooner if it is black, peeling, cracked or has gaps.

Can you fix a leaking shower without retiling?

Often, yes. Failed silicone is a common cause of shower leaks. Removing the old silicone and resealing can stop water getting behind the tiles without a full retile.

How long before I can use the shower again?

Silicone needs curing time, which depends on the product. We will tell you exactly how long to wait before your first shower.

Why not just add new silicone over the old?

New silicone does not bond well to old silicone or mould. The old sealant has to be fully removed first for a clean, lasting seal.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in south Clapham and cover Clapham, Balham, Brixton, Battersea, Wandsworth, Fulham, Kensington and nearby London areas.
